The gruff exterior of an elder statesman – a snort of liquorice, soot and briar hedge laced with wild sage – which hides a tender heart of luscious red fruits and a silky voice like warm cocoa. Rich, opulent and seductive, but with a firm bite of ageworthy tannin. Matured for nine months in well-seasoned French oak puncheons. Decanter, 01 Jan 2024

Brilliant ruby with scarlet edges. A heady mix of fruits, spices and perfume gives notes of redcurrant, raspberries and liqueur cherries along with red licorice, musk, rose petals and a hint of rosemary. Bright red berry characters are gorgeous and concentrated. This core of fruit richness is laced through with spice and fresh herbs. Fine, sandy tannins are a hallmark of The Absconder providing exceptional texture, a savoury counterpoint, and great length.
